Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 also known professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female to sign for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. She released her first EP with the label on October 21 2016 titled Pho where she gained notoriety. Her first studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music online in 2012 after she released her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014, she continued to release her music on the internet, including her self launched single Bound. In 2015, she was featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on July 21st. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to use it in conjunction with Rihanna. On the 8th of December that she had signed with Dreamville Records. She was featured on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut EP, on Oct 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018 she guest-starred in two of her songs with labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. And Bas in Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on September 5. The second single she released was, Grampa on November 9. Two more singles were released by her on November 13 with the titles Pedigree and One. They then teamed up as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single in February, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same title. It was released with an accompanying music video that debuted that was released on February 20, 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube within one week. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
